    Take it From Our Experts

Mortgage rates climb to 7.244% but South Lake keeps outselling Lake County
Median holds at $410,000 while 30-year rates move to 7.047% after the Fed’s first hike since 2023.
Rates hold essentially flat, and South Lake sellers keep closing near full ask.
Rates hold at 6.75% while South Lake keeps outpacing Lake County on both price and speed.
Rates ease to 6.72% as South Lake homes keep closing right around 99% of asking.
Rates dipped to a 3-week low this week while Citizens Property Insurance filed its first rate cut since 2015.
Rates hold at 6.77% while South Lake sellers keep closing near full asking price
If you’ve been holding off on a home search waiting for mortgage rates to fall off a cliff, this week’s news probably isn’t what you wanted to hear. The Federal Reserve held its benchmark rate steady for a fifth consecutive meeting, and the 30-year fixed is sitting right around 6.76%. Rates aren’t spiking, but they aren’t dropping either, and here in South Lake County, the market isn’t pausing to wait them out.
Rates moved the wrong direction this week, and I want to walk you through what that actually means if you’re buying or selling in South Lake right now, because the headline number tells you less than you’d think.
Rates finally gave buyers a small break this week. If you have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for a sign, this might be it, though I would not call it a green light just yet.
